”I had the honor of being the first American employee in our company – something I’m quite proud of.”

I joined Framery in 2017 and had the honor of being the first American employee in our company – something I’m quite proud of.

I first heard about Framery from a colleague, who at the time, worked for one of the company’s dealers, and whom I had worked with earlier in my career. After a few video conference interviews and two face-to-face meetings, one at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport and another one at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, I visited Finland for the first time. We finalized the interview process then and there, and I was welcomed aboard as the newest Framerian. This was so long ago that – at the time – I only knew about two Finnish words: kiitos and kippis. Luckily, those were the only words I needed! I managed to get by, thanks to our Framerian colleagues’ willingness to use their English whenever I was around. I am still often amazed (and always grateful) that the vast majority of Framerians – which are Finns, are always willing to use their unofficial second language when working with our non-Finnish colleagues.

”Any time we get to spend time together with other Framerians, I, as well as I think most of our remote employees, consider it a highlight.”

There are too many highlights from my first few years with Framery to name them all, but I do specifically remember my first day on the job, visiting the Finnish embassy in Washington, D.C. to oversee the installation of a Framery O – it was a very cool experience! Global Sales meetings, Framery World Conferences, NeoCon and other fairs, our amazing celebratory trip to Åre – any time we get to spend time together with other Framerians, I, as well as I think most of our remote employees, consider it a highlight. What a pleasure it has been to watch the American team grow from just three people on the ground three years ago, to 20 people today. Being part of Framery’s growth in this region of the world has been a life accomplishment for me.

”The culture of our company has always been something Framerians can count on and something I’m proud to be part of.”

To me, the most important thing about Framery is our culture. From the warmth with which I was welcomed to the team just a few years ago, to the transparency with which our leaders communicate during challenging times, the culture of our company has always been something Framerians can count on and something I’m proud to be part of.

”We all have personal situations outside of the office and we are all grateful for the flexibility in our work styles and locations. Framery is so mindful of employees’ well-being, and when you’re selling ‘happiness’, that helps!”

There’s great potential for personal development at Framery. Transparency and communication, not just top-down from management, but peer-to-peer, interdepartmentally and so on, allows us to develop as employees, grow our skill sets, and explore interests in contributing to other parts of the organization. Whether it’s R&D welcoming employees to brainstorm product development ideas or marketing letting us help them create a new campaign, or other opportunities, Framery is very good at letting everyone work autonomously and motivate themselves. We all have personal situations outside of the office and we are all grateful for the flexibility in our work styles and locations. Framery is so mindful of employees’ well-being, and when you’re selling ‘happiness’, that helps!

”The unique thing about working for Framery is the exposure to the country and Finnish culture that joining this company has led to.”

The unique thing about working for Framery is the exposure to the country and Finnish culture that joining this company has led to. Making someone who sits 6,979 (yes, I looked that up) kilometers away from Tampere feel like they are part of the family is a big deal and I’m glad the journey of my career took me where I am today – right in the center of happiness.

Greetings from Framery Chicago,

Reid Ruberti, Sales Director, East USA
