Five years ago the team at Framery became aware that excessive use of medium-density fiberboard (MDF board) presents health hazards as it’s made with an adhesive containing urea-formaldehyde which “off-gasses” into its surroundings. MDF is reportedly found in multiple manufacturing facilities often as a way for businesses to cut costs with cheap particle board products. While this might be new information to competing brands on the market, Framery has inherently been aware of the dangers of poorly executed manufacturing processes and has worked since our early beginnings to ensure that the product breakdown of any pod serves no threat to the end user.
Framery pods are made primarily of plywood, glass, steel, aluminium, polyester, polyamide, PMMA plastic, polyurethane foam, nylon, and wool. The percentages of materials, environmental impact, and chemical breakdown are all formally and regularly documented to meet safety standards. All substances within Framery products are listed in the Health Product Declarations. Health and Environmental Product Declarations are available for reference should anyone be interested in further exploring the measures that Framery has taken to ensure that safety is guaranteed in each pod.
